Difference in peptide contents and targeting organ leads to different function

The functional differences between various cells in the body depend not only on their shape and the number of organelles they contain but also on peptide signaling. This signaling facilitates communication between organelles and determines the specific functions of the cells.

Mitochondria receive signals from the nucleus in the form of peptides and various chemical substances. These signals are utilized by the mitochondria to regulate their activity, which includes energy production, cell cycle regulation, stimulation of cell proliferation and regeneration, and prevention of cell senescence, apoptosis, and cell death.

As aging occurs, the strength and volume of signals to mitochondria decline. Mitochondria interpret this as a signal to stop functioning and send messages back to the nucleus to halt cell proliferation and initiate apoptosis and cell death.

Safety
